Scotland's Moorland Forum was formed in 2002 as a partnership between a diverse range of organisations to engage with issues affecting the moorland and upland areas of Scotland; through its membership, the Forum covers issues relating to policy, practice and management. Currently, the Forum has 27 member organisations.

The Trust has provided the Administrator for the Forum since 2005 and the Director was appointed as the Secretary to the Forum in 2007. The title of the role was changed to Director in 2011.

The Trust’s role is one of coordination between the diverse interests represented by the range of member organisations to achieve the objectives set for the Forum by the members. In this role the Trust’s ability to ‘promote integrated moorland management’ is put to full use and makes the Trust the ideal organisation to carry out this work.
