Teaching children about land management and respect for nature.

Katrina published her first children’s book in 2012 with the aim of gently educating children about rural management and caring for our natural resources. Since then she has published three further books, each with a different topic, with her latest ‘Heather Munro’s Race Against the Flames’ being launched at the end of 2025. “This new adventure story aims to inspire children while giving them a gentle but meaningful introduction to wildfire prevention and responsible land management,” said Katrina. “I have worked with the Scottish Gamekeeper’s Association on this project which has been really rewarding, and we hope this book goes some way to bringing the issue of wildfire prevention to the fore.”

By combining fiction with real-world themes and beautiful illustrations, Katrina hopes children will see that everyone can make a difference. The proceeds from all of Katrina’s books benefit charities that further understanding of our rural landscapes. “As a former journalist, I love writing and creating stories that people enjoy reading. Combining this passion with my life-long connection and love of our rural environments is a real privilege.”
