A rural hub for visitors and the local community
When we took over The Kirkstyle Inn in 2021 it had been closed for some time. We knew our remote location was potentially against us, and our ambition - to create a venue serving extraordinary food, showcasing our amazing Northumberland produce to help secure the area as a place on the foodies’ map, while remaining a local’s pub - was a long shot.
Our menu showcases Northumberland's best home grown and nurtured produce. We take pride in our wine list that boasts over 350 titles from across the world.
The season determines our menu and sustainability governs what we serve. Head Chef Connor uses preservative methods such as pickling and fermentation to manage food waste, creating a larder of ingredients for scarcer times. We are committed to promoting wild game, championing its sustainability and its role in supporting rural communities. We passionately support our upland farmers and buy whole beasts from them whenever we can, using innovative ways to use as much of the animal as we can to reduce waste and the need to buy from further afield.
We have launched a library of experiences and adventures to help visitors truly embrace the untamed exuberance that is the North Pennines. Our concierge service applies local knowledge to create a personalised itinerary tailored to our guests’ needs and preferences.
As soon as you step inside The Kirkstyle you’ll find a perfect blend of country charm and contemporary luxury. Every detail of the interior has been carefully considered to create a space that feels both welcoming and indulgent.
We are proud to say that in the three years we have been opened we have gained recognition from food critics and industry bodies and claimed a number of accolades along the way. We draw visitors from far and wide, while also providing a hub for our local community to come together, enjoy each other's company and rekindle relationships.
