Established in 2021, fieldandfireside.co.uk is a Yorkshire-based family-run online store offering the equipment and clothing you need for training working breed dogs.
Founder Sue Lister spent every holiday with extended family living a pretty feral (and idyllic) life on the North York Moors, taking for granted the wide-open spaces, abundant wildlife, and rural way of life that came along with it. It wasn’t until a few decades later, after leaving a corporate career and setting up her own business, that her connection with the Yorkshire upland areas was renewed.
“I set up field and fireside to offer a great range of products for people either starting out or continuing their dog training journey, and to provide help and advice on equipment and how to get the best out of it through training. We pride ourselves on great customer service, and we’re always here to offer a helping hand to find the right piece of gear for every situation. Over the past five years, we’ve worked with some amazing brands and now stock what we believe to be the best products on the market for working dog training - having tried and tested them ourselves on our working breeds. We’ve also developed our own range of training equipment to meet the training needs of our customers and ambassadors. Running Field and Fireside has given me some great opportunities to become involved in initiatives and organisations that help to promote and educate people about our upland areas, conservation, land management and field sports. Quite often our customers come to us because they want to channel their dog’s natural working instincts but often owners have little knowledge about the environment the dogs were bred to work in. Through training using our equipment, our customers often find or become more involved in the field sports world and with that comes an appreciation of the roles of the people who help to preserve our upland areas and the communities who live in and around them.” Sue Lister, Founder.
