Heather Trust on show at Scottish Game Fair

The Heather Trust was delighted to partner with Calton Wealth at this year’s Scottish Game Fair (3-5 July) to host two events over the weekend.

It was a very full marquee on Friday morning for our Women’s Upland Network reception. Guests met and mingled, making connections, strengthening networks and joined our Director Katrina in welcoming the guest speaker Deirdre Stewart.

Deridre is Vice Chair of the Association of Deer Management Groups and has her own land management consultancy. During an informal and entertaining interview, Deirdre spoke of her roots in rural Scotland and what influenced her to take the career path she has. She also shared her interest in encouraging the next generation of rural stewards and how Scotland’s wild open spaces inspire her. On Sunday, Katrina welcomed a younger audience to a book reading of her new publication ‘Heather Munro’s Race against the Flames’. Despite competition from the main ring activities and Joelato Gelato in the marquee (!), her young listeners were kept entertained by the story of bravery, community and determination as Heather and her friends save Glen Stoushie from a wildfire.

Throughout the weekend, the Trust was also represented at a series of receptions and meetings, including one with Minister for Agriculture, Marine and the Islands Jim Fairlie MSP to discuss detail within the new Muirburn Code which was due to be published on 1^st July.
