Farmers and Land Managers Invited to ‘Wildfire Ready’ – A Practical Workshop on Building Landscape Resilience
With special thanks to our sponsors Fire Hosetech & Vallfirest
Rottal Estate, Kirriemuir, Angus – 13 November 2025
The Heather Trust, in partnership with Pasture for Life, is hosting Wildfire Ready, a hands-on event designed to equip farmers, land managers, and rural stakeholders with the practical skills and knowledge needed to prepare for and mitigate the growing threat of wildfires across the UK.
Taking place at Rottal Estate Glen Clova, Kirriemuir from 10:00am to 3:00pm, the event will bring together leading experts in wildfire management, land use, and policy to share strategies and tools for building resilience in rural landscapes.
“In 2025 we saw Scotland’s largest wildfire rip through miles of valued countryside. As the risk and severity of wildfires continue to increase across the UK, preparedness has never been more important,” said Katrina Candy, Director of The Heather Trust.
“This event is about turning awareness into action — empowering those who manage the land to take practical steps to protect their livelihoods, communities, and the environment.”
Jamie Jack, Scotland’s Regional Manager for Pasture for Life commented: “Hill and upland farmers collectively manage 70% of Scotland's land area - areas where the impacts of these devastating events will be felt most by those who live and work there.
“Those managing and living in these rural areas need training and support to be prepared to protect our Scottish landscape and rural livelihoods when wildfires break out, not if.”
