To celebrate the launch of the Women’s Upland Network, we are offering four women who run rural businesses in (or supporting) the UK’s uplands a chance to win* a free two-hour tailored marketing consultation with Lucy Laidlaw Communication, a seasoned consultant with over 15 years’ experience in communications, marketing and community engagement across rural-related sectors.

 

Just 2 steps to enter the competition:

  • Join the Women’s Upland Network by signing up to our free newsletter.

  • Tell us (in 250 words or less) about your upland business and why you would like to win (entry form will be sent in a separate email after signup).

Entry is open to women aged 18 or over who are UK residents and who run an upland (or related) business. Winners will be selected by the WUN founding group and announced by the end of April 2026.

Terms and Conditions

1. Promoter
The promoter is the Women’s Upland Network, an initiative of The Heather Trust.

2. Entry requirements
This prize draw is open only to women aged 18 or over, who permanently reside in the United Kingdom and who run an upland (or related) business. Employees of the Women’s Upland Network, The Heather Trust and their close relatives are not eligible. Entry is via completion of the newsletter signup form and competition form. Only one entry per person.

3. Draw period and closing date
The draw opens on 8 March 2026 and closes at 23:59 GMT on 31 March 2026. Entries received after the closing time will not be accepted.

4. Prize
Four winners will each receive a two-hour one to one marketing consultation with Lucy Laidlaw Communication. The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.

5. Selection of winners
Winners will be selected by the Women’s Upland Network founding group based on the criteria that reflect who would benefit most from a marketing consultation. The criteria for assessment is a 250 word (or less) entry. The selection team’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

6. Notification of winners
Winners will be notified by email by the end of April 2026. If a winner does not respond within 14 days of notification, the prize may be forfeited and an alternative winner selected.

7. Use of Information and Personal Data
By entering this competition, entrants agree that:
a. The Promoter may use the personal information provided in the form and publicly-available information (such as details and photos from an entrant’s business website) for administration of the competition, to contact entrants about network news and opportunities where consent has been given, and for promotional purposes across Women’s Upland Network marketing channels.
b. Personal data will be processed in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy and UK GDPR.
c. The Promoter may use a winner’s name, business name and region to announce results and for reasonable publicity related to this competition subject to consent.

8. Data protection
Any personal data provided as part of this prize draw will be used in accordance with The Heather Trust Privacy Policy and UK GDPR. Personal data collected for the draw will be used to administer the draw and to send marketing communications where explicit consent has been given.

9. General
No purchase is necessary to enter. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the prize draw and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of circumstances outside its reasonable control.
